Social engineering – Concrete examples of social engineering

1. Phishing

It’s a fake message (email, SMS, social network…) which seems to be sent by a reputable firm, your bank, or a public administration and asks you to click on a link / for personal information.
“Your order is blocked. Please pay €15 to unlock it.”

2. Fake

A person seems to be a technician or a support agent. He pretends to verify your account, update software, or correct a bug.
After that, he asks for your login, to access, or install malware.

3. Social network attacks

A hacker can make a fake profile or hack a friend’s one.
He sends a message like “It’s urgent! I need your help!” just to obtain money or personal data.
